Get fit. Go fast. Get rolling with Cruz!
Cruz Skate Shop's San Francisco location was founded in March of 2008 by Sandy "Motley" Cruz and now husband, Gordon Eckler, to provide much needed roller skate and derby gear and advice to local skaters. The 3rd brick and mortar derby shop to service the nation, Cruz was the first of it's kind in California and has welcomed visiting skaters from all over the globe. Within a year after our opening, we began to sell skateboard goods, creating a hybrid concept shop where the worlds of roller derby and skateboarding could unite. Marci "Rioter's Block" Daniels came aboard to help steer the Cruz ship in early 2011.
In 2013, Cruz relocated the brick and mordor (sicK!) shop to BerZerkerley CA (see our blog post on this.)
In order to better meet the needs of a quickly growing roller derby community, Cruz returned to its roots and is now focusing solely on quad roller skating gear and protective products suitable to the demands of roller derby skaters. Though our specialty is roller derby, we also take pride in being ready to meet the needs of anyone interested in roller skating. If you want a set-up that will blow minds at the local rink, we've got you. Need a set of commuter skates to get you to work in style? Done.
Being skaters ourselves, we all take pride in selling only goods we would personally roll on, and in providing assistance to skaters of all ages and skill sets. Not only is roller skating something we love, but sharing our experience and knowledge with other skaters is something we're passionate about. We continue to educate ourselves about and test the gear we carry so that we can provide the best equipment, information, and service to our customers.
